Honey. No. He has to figure his whole brain out. It is not your responsibility to fix him so that he will be a safe and suitable companion for you. His past trauma is awful, but he needs to recover from it in a way that is not toxic or dangerous BEFORE he can be the man of your dreams. You and Copper (is he a bloodhound? Tell me he's a bloodhound.) may be at the end of that journey for him, but it is not fair to commit to that path with him.
Younger men needs time to build their financial position and since you are older, you are likely to be ahead of him and thus he is insecure about it. He wants to take care of you and his way of doing so is by paying for dates, etc but seems can’t.
