You entered a relationship with an adult man. That comes with adult problems. If this was an age appropriate relationship, you would be able to see that his desire for his child to be introduced into the home of a long term relationship is a reasonable ask.

Unfortunately, you're also a child. You're not ready for the realities of a mature relationship and you shouldn't be in one.

My advice is to end the relationship. Beyond it being wildly inappropriate, your partner also deserves to be with someone on the same level. His child should come first, and you're too immature and self-centered to see why that is rightfully one of his priorities.

Also: why is somebody who is going to be a father soon doing acid at a family birthday party while his wife sits in the kitchen totally sober??

I think you should give him an ultimatum. Either he agrees to either see a judge or go along with your plans without complaint OR he steps up with helping out in planning (not just criticizing you do it). If he won’t do any of these, leave. He can either shut up, step up, elope, or break up. That’s it.

The way he’s handling this isn’t treating you as a partner at all and that doesn’t bode well for a marriage.
