OP, he's ruining his own future by not getting help. It's not like someone with untreated psychosis is going to thrive in the world. The best thing you could do is whatever it takes to get him into a treatment situation. Being “thrown into a mental hospital” is precisely what he might need right now. You've tried being a pushover and that didn't work. Time to try something else. You're going to be in danger until such time as he's removed from your life. Whether that's a psych facility or jail shouldn't be your top concern at the moment. Good luck.

I think you’ve answered your own question. You just can’t muster it up organically, so for you, the magic is gone. It’s over, and he’s learned a costly lesson, but as they say, eff around and find out.
Well, as somebody who didn't find his person until later in life, I can reaffirm that 26 is not old when it comes to finding who you are meant to be with.
I also understand the feelings of seeing friends and family members get married and starting their own families. It hits hot, especially during get-togethers. That said, it's in those times you just have to remind yourself to not rush it. Sometimes that person meant for you finds you when you're least expecting it.
This is all just words on a screen to you, but I genuinely understand and hope you find that love/person that goes beyond words.
