Ah, your ex situation explains a lot and I'm not judging here. I've kicked an ex to the curb for being a lazy arse and not getting a job. I'm of the opinion that if a woman is capable of working and there's no kids she should be working and contributing and chores should be divided by who does the thing they hate the least lol. But that's me. I'm old fashioned, if women want equality then that applies to everything. And yes, I'm a woman. To the point though. OP does recognise the income disparity and said she's learning to code. She is trying. However in IT there is a still a strong sense of misogyny unfortunately…. ask any female coder or even gamer. So I can't see her earning more will help. As you said, he's an ass to not help at all. I bet he won't like her out earning him if that ever happened. I know that from my ex. Ops hubby reminds me of him. Luckily I struck gold as my husband earns less but is so proud of me and since my lung issues post covid (I can still work thankfully), steps up with a much greater portion of the chores. I didn't like that! That's not fair on him. I hired a cleaner to take that off him, I order groceries in, again to help where I can. Good communication and above all respect will move mountains. OPs husband doesn't respect her and sounds like your ex didn't you. Hope you find someone that deserves you and is a true partner, if you haven't already.

You need to work on your relationship insecurities before you push your bf into her arms. They are friends. You don’t have to like her, but your hatred of her could push your bf away. Get some therapy.
