Holy smokes. I’ve summarized your story in several of my responses along with why I disagree with it, and yet not a peep. Maybe you’re the one who suffers from a lack of reading comprehension because you could simply scroll up 4 or so comments and you’d see my response and summarization of your story.

I agree with you in principle, but I also think it takes time to understand the specific circumstances of someone’s single parenting, in the same way as it takes time to understand anyone’s specific circumstances. You can be OK with someone being a single parent, and even like the idea of a ready-made family, but not necessarily some of the ancillary things that come with that.
It sounds to me that there were complexities here that only became evident as the relationship got more involved.
Homedog, when you see a glaring red flag, take it for what it is. I’m personally not down to crawl on my knees begging every time I fail a theoretical scenario.
They don’t really tell if you are lying tho. It’s about your heart rate. If you have anxiety you will fail it even if you are telling the truth. I had one done when my one class visited a police station. Just simple questions but I was apparently lying even tho I was being 100% just because I have an anxiety disorder.
Maybe she doesn't want anyone to see her as the step-parent of a teenager or is from a family background where a very dim view is taken of those people who are divorced/single parents by choice/parents unmarried at the time of their child's birth.
