The issue is that he’s manipulating you and not following through on his promises. I wouldn’t want someone like that to begin with. Let’s say it wasn’t marriage but that it was something else he said he would do and didn’t follow through with it. Would it not bother you enough to get out of the relationship? Maybe it’s me but a pattern of not following through to completion the things that you say you will do is a huge turn off. It’s then more disrespectful that he says these things, strings you along, and then pretty much says he flat out not doing it. Nope. Bye.
Talking from experience if you have spoken with him about his / your future goals and concerns and you don’t see a way he can quickly meet them you will start to resent him. Anything next level future / marriage wise you need to make sure you feel complete on all fronts! Otherwise this is just a fun moment in your life with a fun guy you care for. If you are ready for something more serious it will hurt but be better in the long run to end things now

Like your personality, how you react to him being sad, your hobbies, work ethics, how you support him and what you can achieve for yourself? Life is very unpredictable but values help us determine the things we hold to be important. Think once, think twice.
