Also, just want to add: I'm a mom and I forgot my baby in the car once. She was sleeping quietly, and very little so I wasn't used to having her around and my mom and I went into a fast food restaurant and ordered food, sat there and ate it, then went back to the car only to find I'd left her there (still sleeping when I came back). She was fine, and I wasn't even the only one in the car: we BOTH forgot her. It's so easy to do. I'd like to believe if it had been much longer (it was fast food so we weren't there for awfully long) that I'd have remembered her before anything bad happened. But I don't know. I just count my blessings that it wasn't that long or that naked that day, and now I don't forget my child.
It's fucked up to think you're capable of forgetting your own child. To know that you are. But now that I know myself, know what my brain is capable of, know that my brain is unreliable, I don't rely on it. I took measures to protect her.
