I literally messaged a friend happy new years at 1am lol. I remembered my coworkers even later and messaged the group happy new years at around 2am lol. I'm so confused by this
These people have been together for three years, this signifies a desire to be long term and a significant relationship.

And dating still means dating, no matter the length. Getting engaged and married don't even have to be legal – engagement isn't legal at all. It isn't arbitrary – it's a definite line where you mark when you're decided on someone. You can stay engaged forever if you want (stupid as hell but no one stops you).
In a mature relationship you're open and honest with each other, you don't hide things.

This completely depends on your parents. They can either act like adults and support your decision, or they can decide to act like children by being angry at you for pursuing what you think will make you happy. It's their call.
He needs somebody from that community to teach him, sit both of you down and tell him the obligation from a husband. A wife should come first in everything. There need to be understanding between both of you about the extend of his involvement with that community.

You’re telling me you don’t know how girls work. Of course she’s going to tell her friends. Asking someone on a date is the gateway to determining if you want to be in a relationship with them. You don’t straight up ask for FWB bc you aren’t sure you want to date them. If they’re flirty with you and aren’t interested in that, as you’ve leaned you killed any chance. For future, asking someone on a date and being rejected is much more recoverable. It does not impact the entire friend circle negatively the way asking for sex from a lab partner does.
