Thank you, I do want to emphasize that I stayed to support him because he wanted to get help. He came to me and acknowledged he had a drinking problem, he pursued therapy and outpatient rehab. He truly wanted to change.
Even after years of sobriety there are challenges, we both know he could relapse at some point in our lives together. We are still working out trust issues that were intensified by him lying to me about drinking, while he was in active addiction.
If you're with an addict who doesn't admit they are an addict, or who doesn't want to change their addiction, you're in for a really rough ride.
