When actions like this are taken it's either the beginning of the end, or at least the beginning of an unhealthy pattern. Even if he was fine with it, he no longer has privacy, nor do any of the friends who have shared personal stuff with him. When you check someone's phone you don't just breach their trust, but every one of their friends too.
On the ED side… have you both explored this enough to know it's porn? On him lying, that could be a deal breaker if you want it to be. There's also a big difference between watching some videos on the hub versus engaging in social media with it.
You're not in the wrong to feel insecure but this sounds like a him problem, especially if he feels the need to hide it. Either he doesn't respect the “no porn” rule or he has a compulsion to view it.

That's fair. I'm not looking to go out with her or anything; but it still does suck to see my friend go through tough times that can probably just be avoided. It feels like I'm being a bad friend by not helping her, or gently nudging her in one way or another.
