You’re very right. A similar issue happened also over a blimmin card game and a comment when I was there last year. There was no physical abuse though. I didn’t say much at this instance but also felt guilty later for not being stronger. I figured the relationship between a mother and son is something i should stay out of. However, getting physical and the way she did it in front of family when his best friend (cousin) is down for the weekend just really grates my gears. She ruined the evening I feel. And atm if I was around and this type of thing happened I feel I would absolutely lose my cool. She gets away with being cruel and gets whatever she wants and this is a woman I usually like so wow, I can’t believe I’m saying that
Assuming it was a normal “we just didn't work” breakup, even if there were bad feelings, who cares what your ex does? She was free to date or have sex with anyone else the second you broke up because she no longer had a commitment to you.
NOR YOU TO HER.
She's not cheating on you. You've been over for two years.
The ONLY possible exception is if she was abusive. Then you'd be in your rights to feel disrespected by your friend.

Your title did not include at least two ages/genders or was not formatted correctly
Posts must:
include details about the involved parties including ages, genders, and length of relationship, and
request advice in real situations involving two or more people
We are enforcing the two rules listed above by making all titles start with ages/genders in the following format:
[##X][##X], [## X][## X], or [##-X][##-X] where ## is the age and X is the gender (currently M, F, T, A, NB, FTM, MTF but more can be added). You can have more than two ages/genders listed, but you must have at least two at the beginning of your title. Here is an example:
Don't apologize, you did absolutely nothing wrong. Call his bluff and see if he breaks up with you. Don't take this sort of crap from anyone, it's a bad road to go down to let anyone get away with treating you like that. Is this really what you want from a partner?
OK there’s something new called an emotional affair. You do not even need to be in the same room or the same city it is reliance emotionally on somebody else that isn’t your partner and why it matters to women and relationships is it takes the intimacy out of the relationship, it puts it with somebody else. And often the person who’s being ignored, can tell they’re not getting all the information.
If not, then you shouldn’t do anything off just the letter. You should match it to his behaviour over the period they claim he was cheating. If there were problems during this time with his attitude or behaviour then the letter is probably genuine.
As for what you do, we’ll you can either end it, and have a chance that the letter is fake, or keep the relationship going, and have a chance that it was real.

That's EXTREMELY unhealthy. It's a very toxic move to threaten your relationship just because your angry. You deserve better, and she needs therapy.

He showed you who he is and you're choosing to accept it. Don't stay with someone you can't trust.
He’s in the wrong. Is this a pattern for him? Calling you out on stuff that are completely appropriate?

He doesn't want to marry you. Saying if the right woman comes along, tells you everything you need to know. Don't waste any more time with him.
Was there any proof, or contact details?
