180 at 5'6″ for a former athlete is not fat at all, as I am assuming you have a lot of muscle built up from years of running. I am currently 200 at 5'9″, at my athletic peak I was 180 with a six pack. If my significant other told my she was no longer attracted to me at my current weight, not only would I be hurt but I would also question if she was ever attracted to me, because I don't look much different.
