Yup. And also as one of these freezing-when-being-assaulted people; it often feels way longer then it actually was. 20 seconds can be how it felt for OP.. while it might have been shorter. The freezing part does that with your mind; it's weirdly accurate how they let superheroes freeze time around them in movies and you hear the clock ticking slower then it actually ticks =/
I respectfully disagree. The reason I disagree is because we are responsible for ourselves. We do not get to use our mental health issues or any issues to abuse another human being. We get to recognize it and seek medical help. Which she refused to do. This is like saying it’s okay for a man to abuse his wife because he’s bipolar, which is often an excuse we see around here. No, these are not excuses or free passes for that kind of behavior. And as I said, if she wasn’t treating everyone else like her verbal and emotional punching bag, then this shows a level of self restraint on her part that she didn’t use when around her husband.
Who cares what your family thinks? Do whatever makes you happy. Enjoy your new relationship. Your ex should be doing things to make sure he's happy but he really is none of your concern. You gotta look forward, not backwards. ❤️

OP, was all 18k spent in the past year or so (since you’ve gotten married) or over the duration of your relationship? If it was all after the wedding you’re screwed, but you may not be on the hook for all 18k of that debt.
