I have to disagree here, OP didn't raise the child in any sense of the word – even the part where OP claims to have abandoned her family to send them money: the girl still had to take a job to pay for things to take care of a dying man and an infant before her 10th birthday – and that's if she ever had one at all before she escaped her abuser(s).
