It's more of a Jewish thing, not a Christian thing, to not have tattoos. That being said, my Jewish wife has a tattoo, I do not.
So what we're dealing with is more of a conservative, old style thinking of how a woman should be, rather than a Christian thing. An expectation on how your mother believes her daughter should act, behave and live. That's a powerful thing to a lot of people. It's why no one in my wife's Russian Jewish family would ever date someone of a different 'skin tone' if you get what I'm saying.
End of the day, I always think it's healthier for you to live! your own life, be it with a tattoo or in a relationship. You'll just need to decide if you can take her comments about it, if and when she sees it. I would think a tattoo would rank low though on the scale of bad things you can do.
