Gay/straight/any/all men are different, but there are definitely different types of guys, right? Regardless. So if he's not fitting in well with types that are less accepting/open-minded, or the “women are dumb” crowd, I don't see that as outdated. I get what you're saying, though, and totally agree that “gay” doesn't mean “feminine” and isn't seen that way as much as it once did.
Even if he did have an offer, if the new company heard about his antics they would be well within their rights to rescind it.
