I can understand that it is a big deal and probably made him anxious/upset for you but his reaction says a lot, it was an overreaction on your behalf. His reaction to a problem that isn’t necessarily a “us” problem is to belittle you, make jokes at your expense, harass you, try to take your belongings and then forcibly help. I don’t think you should ignore a red flag like that. Hopefully that behavior was a one time thing, won’t be an issue in future for other inevitable problems.

Your mom meant well but giving pets as a surprise is a big no no. And any reputable breeder, rescue, or shelter wouldn’t have given your mother a dog knowing it was going to be a surprise gift.

Puppies are hot! We got our new pup just before Xmas. We were both aligned on this though I was a little hesitant as my partner has never had a pup and I was pretty sure I’d end up being the one doing most of the work. It’s hard work! And expecting a puppy to be quiet and calm to avoid a tenant complaint is just….not realistic.
I dunno. I love dogs and all but I feel very badly for your BF and very disappointed in your mom. I think you should return the dog to the breeder or contact a breed specific rescue for help rehoming her unless your mom is able to keep her.

I had that happen to me too. I would have these long intense dreams that seemed like I was re-living my past relationship with my ex. So I decided to contact him and meet up. He gained a lot of weight, lost all his hair and still lives with his mom. Never had those dreams again lol.
