Ok so first it's very very hot to be both active in such conversation and not be trying to give solution ot her problems. Which might not be what she wants, she wants “emotional support”. Anyways if she needs an emotional vent she should go to proffesional therapist, making you her therapist will traumatise you emotionally and effectively make her lose attraction to you. That's how it usually goes.

Did it seem light-hearted? Were you mostly surprised by the suddenness and strength disparity? Or did he suddenly seem serious or cold? Did you feel like he was trying to “put you in your place”?
