Huge red flag for me If you decide to get back together, get a pre-nup, keep finances separate and cover your butt.

Absolutely. Most people would rather work less hours for the same amount of money. Having a partner who makes 2x as much but works half the time would be absolutely infuriating unless he was also doing more than 50% of the housework.
