He gaslit you, love bombed you, and knowing your history, took advantage of your weaknesses and seemingly used them to get to your information and keep you vulnerable.
This isn’t about the writing, this is all him. That’s an explosive reaction to something as joining a writing class. My guess is it’s not the money (your money at that), it’s the fact that you’re doing things on your own and you don’t need him to be around all the time.
I know these threads always say leave, but you really should leave and not look back. These are red flags, friend. The financial control he’s made you think you need him for and “to prove to him”, the sudden angry outbursts over your hobbies and interests, the trying to convince you that a writing class could be dangerous? Like what?
It’s a red flag parade and he’s the mastermind of it.
