When I hear this kind of thing on Reddit, I'm convinced the person posting it is 19 and has never been in an adult relationship. Couples often do things for each other because it is more efficient. Like, I do all the laundry because it's not that much harder to put my wife's stuff in with mine. I don't only wash my dishes after dinner. I don't mow half the lawn and tell my wife to go do the other half. My wife might make both of our lunches, not because I'm incapable of feeding myself, but because it makes sense that if you're making sandwiches and getting everything out, making two isn't much harder than making one and it's a kind thing to do.
