You guys were young and it was the first couple of months. It sucks but I wouldn’t throw away six years over just that. You should also realize how much you mean to her for her to feel that she has to be this honest with you. She’s matured and it matters to her. That’s a good sign.
Why isn't she working? I would think that possibly she's bored, lonely and is missing him because she probably wasn't bored and lonely when she dated him, since she likely had more to do than clean a room during the day.
It's up to you what you do, but she was honest and I can't see how a person with nothing to do can be fulfilled and not look to the past to work out how to get excitement back in their life, unfortunately a past relationship is an easier option than applying for jobs, university or something else that could lead to fulfilment.
I don't suggest getting back with her right now, but her ex won't give her what she's looking for, she needs to find that through her own endeavours.
