Crushes are normal and aren't a problem. On its own, it's not a sign of a failing relationship. Going out of your way to spend time with your crush, however, IS a problem. She needs to knock that shit off immediately.
Feelings can't be controlled, but actions can. Commitment often looks like avoiding temptation.
You might be but that doesn't mean everyone else will be.
Peskypenguin has given you not just the best advice OP, but thee only advice. Everything they just said. Also, as a fellow 40 yr old, who just had an ex from literally 20 yrs ago hit me up out of nowhere to say she was sry for being a douche all those yrs ago, that I'm a good guy etc, this girl def may come crawling back at one point. Do not bite.
This person betrayed you deeply OP. Age and understanding of romantic love aside, she absolutely does NOT love you. That's the most important thing to realize here.
Could you betray and act so cold to a loved one, be it a past or present love? If it's real, you could not. If I love someone truly,I'ma be there whether they gain 100lbs or loose all their teefers. Certainly not gonna trade them in for a new model on a whim. Real talk.
My wife of 10 yrs was diagnosed mentally ill. She legit vanished one day out of nowhere. I later became educated on her illness and learned that vanishing out of the blue one day is a legit common symptom of the disease. It's called a “discard” by narcissists/BPD/cluster b disordered people.
Some people are just shitty, not saying yours is mentally ill, but either way, the realization that my person never loved me and never would be capable of it, was what set me free.
Trust me,I know it's painful OP,but this wasn't love if she could bail so easy. It was all a game.
she wants a child much more than OP does, and that's maybe one thing they should focus on
Why should they focus on that? OP said what he said – he's not willing to risk going through it again. Whether it sucked for her too is irrelevant.

Oh wait. Not that subreddit.
Still, you're a terrible friend. you stayed friends with her hoping that it might become something she said was never going to happen. She told you she was uncomfortable with the gifts. You kept doing it anyway. She didn't owe you anything in regard to any other relationship she was having. Especially a relationship she was having with a married man. She didn't not tell you about it because she was taking advantage of your “generosity”. It was because you would react exactly the way you did, with all the drama of a woman scorned.
Her relationship with her boss was never about you. This whole thing is not about you.
I don't think you're being abused but it does sound very much like the two of them are in a relationship and you are not. Are you by any chance the main earner?
