So he is right. Everyone is capable of cheating. Most people don’t because they have moral checks and balances in place.
For some people the checks and balances are not there, but for others they are just damaged through different circumstances. (Say someone cheats but their partner is a narcissist and the relationship is toxic, they still cheated, but it’s likely that the checks and balances were damaged through years of the toxic relationship, rather than them not being there)
Your failure to see it as truth no matter how pessimistic is not his problem.
And the fact that he has cheated and has been cheated on by everyone else he has dated means he has experience to back his view.
I'm 32 and honestly unless you have some sort of other situation where he was being this recklessly stupid it sounds like he's just not the most logical thinker and probably had been building towards a freakout for a long time. Maybe he suppresses his emotions. I doubt he intentionally made the mistake that he made it just sounds like some kind of pent up emotional outburst and you might want to check that he's actually okay at some point here instead of worrying about how he's going to provide for you
