To be fair, there does need to be some gatekeeping for everything. Otherwise words just cease to have meaning. A cis man can’t be a lesbian no matter what he may say. A white person with no connection to Korean culture cannot claim to be of the Korean race. Someone with sexual attraction cannot be defined as asexual. It’s important to people in those communities to have some criteria for entry, otherwise they will be pushed out of the spaces they built and that give them air to be themselves.
Not liking your spouses family is weird to me. I enjoy my wife's family, they live in a different country so I don't get to see them very often which is a bummer
I (35m) don't really get along with groups of other men. Always got along famously with women. Now that I'm married with kids I pretty much just don't have friends – I live with my bestie and that's about all I need. I work in a male dominated industry now so I really don't meet women platonically (or at all) anymore.
I do have maybe 3 or 4 friends but I see them so infrequently after kids that they're more like old friends. People I see once or twice a year and nothing has changed but if I wanted to invite a friend to play golf on the weekend I have nobody.
Can be a bit lonely at times being a not-blokey bloke, not being down with ogling women or being a lech. Such is life.
Idk man I know a lot of insane parents and I know a lot of children of insane parents. Seems to be a coin flip as to if those kids follow their parents footsteps.
