Depends on the person. I know I’ve personally said and done things that come off as insults but I didn’t see it that way until well after the fact. Sometimes there isn’t hidden meaning behind things.
It sounds like his ex got what he wanted. Two reasons I'd give her another chance. First to deny that asshole ex a big win.
