I was in a similar situation with a man I was with for 10 years and I saw the signs, the red flags, everywhere. I was too scared to be alone so I ignored them. The few times I got the courage to leave he would suck me back in with threats of suicide. Eventually he died of an opioid overdose and, I hate to say it, but that was my way out. I hate it that I didn't leave earlier but I've learned and am a better person now.
