I have been the friend in this situation, and my “gay best friend” as you put it, only told me in a drunken fight how he really felt about me – it ruined our friendship. I didn’t realize he resented hearing my complaints about these failed dates, he always would joke and laugh and ask for the tea. Nope, this is not ok. He does not have the right to know where you are every second of every day. People need to earn that level of access – like, my best friend can see my location, but that’s for my safety because I live alone and am not close to my family. If my friend was ever unable to reach me, I’d want him to be able to find me. He has that access because he has proven himself to be supportive and caring. Your boyfriend is showing you that he is not at all supportive – he sees you as his property that he gets to control. This is a precursor to abuse and you need to get out.
