This is not your problem to worry about. The are more than grown. This is their problem and their relationship and not your responsibility. I can see that you care about them, but it is not your job to fix anything in their relationship. Nobody (your mom) ever should have bitched to you about their problems or involved you at all, that was very unfortunate and unhealthy. It’s time to let the grown ups handle their lives and if they call you to share their problems, kindly tell them you really want the best for them but please don’t share any more details.
If you’re seriously dating someone, they should have the opportunity to decide if a very fucking serious moral failing is a dealbreaker or not.
A person doesn’t have to be actively, currently abusive for me to feel disgusted by the fact that they used to intentionally cause physical harm to someone who they claimed to love and care for. It’s not the same as depression, which is not a choice. Domestic violence is a choice.
This whole situation demonstrates why being up front and honest is the ONLY way to deal with having a disgusting, scary black mark on your dating history. Because if you don’t tell, someone else will. And if you’re not ready to be open about your flawed past and the work you’ve done to change, you’re probably not ready to be dating people.

It's a medical conference, so that may be why it's a little different. She needs continuing educations credits every year, and she can earn some by attending this conference. Her hospital will pay for it's employees to attend the conference (there's some small fee), but they will not pay for the accommodations. It's not required and medical employees of the hospital can earn their credits other ways, so basically it's an excuse for a vacation while getting credits.
As someone with a father who is just like this. The more you do, the more he will take advantage of.
