She can do no wrong. She’s allowed to vent, albeit occasionally, but you may not. Her reactions are over the top. SHE’S MEAN TO YOU IN PRIVATE, BUT NICE IN PUBLIC.
From your OP and your comments, I’m reading she’s abusive to you.
How many times have people been surprised to hear that a former partner was abusive because “they were never like that to me or in front of others”? While abuse may seem to be a strong word, if this OP were written by a woman about a man, most would state the OP is being abused. It’s also telling that she’s like that to her mother.
Please consider therapy for you so you can sort out your feelings about this “relationship”. If she’s bullheaded and mean now, it will likely only get worse. You may need to get your ducks in a row in terms of divorce.
I’m not hoping the context changes anything. But if she was genuinely spiked, and someone took advantage of her for a quick kiss, it feels very harsh to end the relationship. I don’t know if I can get past it, and it will certainly take time, but I’ve seen how distraught she is over the whole situation.
Heads just a bit frazzled right now. I think we’re going to take one step at a time and see if we can get past it.
Please just totally block him and move on.

If people cheat on you, then they either don't respect your intelligence and think you're too stupid to find out, or they don't respect your personhood by betraying your trust openly.
Could you offer to pitch in money every month to make up the cost for turning up the heat?
Ok, so as I understand he wasn't tremendously committed to helping the situation, since although cost is an obstacle there are other things he could be trying (live CBT worksheets, hotlines when for when he's spiraling, etc.). It then seems like he's not invested in changing this part of himself.
Forgive the math jargon for a moment but everyone has position and momentum (direction they're headed) in their life. Questionable position can sometimes be tolerated if the momentum is aimed at improvement since one has full control over the latter. Obviously both have to be looked at over a long period of time to make a solid judgement on someones state. If he's having trouble with both and it's been going on for a long time, I can't see this relationship being successful. Sorry.
Relationships are hard enough when both parties have positive momentum and so is grad school. The pain of a breakup is an investment that will likely pay off in this case.
