So let me tell you something. My brother is 55 years old and still only eats hamburgers, chicken fingers and fries. I have no idea how he has EVER maintained a relationship as this is just embarrassing.
I am like you. Consider myself somewhat of a foodie and love trying all the food and cool new restaurants and like healthy stuff.
I couldn't date someone like that. You can try to address it head on by asking him to try some new things and maybe he's not as rigid as my brother and will try it. Ask him if he's be open to more adventurous food. (Obviously adventurous for him not a normal person.)
Honestly, when you go out with other friends who eat normal food it will feel very weird and embarrassing.
You're the one who said they needed time so you should reach out. I'm not sure what you'd be reaching out for though. You don't seem into sharing so it'd be pointless and harmful.
Dump her. Dump her like yesterday. She’s clearly mentally ill in more ways than one. She also probably has a personality disorder.
You made the right choice. She is 24 and lets him control her. She will need major therapy to get out of his hold, if she ever chooses to.
