I think we’re missing some of the story. Does your brother have a history of talking shit about your wife? And why are you keeping her from confronting him about something that upset her?
If your wife was triggered from a past trauma like bullying (which is what it sounds like) the appropriate thing to do is to try to understand where she’s coming from, explain that it was in jest and you’re sorry for the harm you caused, and reassure her that you love her and value her and didn’t mean to hurt her feelings.
The hurt she experienced is real even if harm wasn’t intended. You and your brother should probably both talk to her, apologize that you didn’t mean to upset her or trigger her, and ask if she needs to set a boundary. Like, IDK, never mentioning her by name on the podcast.
While the comments were mild, your wife cannot help being triggered and as her husband you should be compassionate and respectful of her trauma and supportive during her recovery.
