But wow does this make me appreciate my wife. She and I do ok on income. Fortunately we are both cool with what the other person wants to cheap out on, and what they want to splurge on.
Another way to say it is that you should each respect what the other person values and doesn't value. Sometimes you make sacrifices on your values to spend more time together and acknowledge to yourself that you're doing it for the other person.
