This may be an unpopular opinion but I think you both could have obviously handled yourselves differently. As a woman we don’t need to explain ourselves to any man especially in an uncomfortable situation. If it was a crowded or loud bar, you could have simply pretended not to hear them and return to your fiancé. And we all know how he could have reacted a bit better. I think it’s great that you guys spoke about the situation after the fact though. Very scary situation.

Yeah I guess there’s be levels to how bad one could interpret it. Being afraid for his life would be an extreme interpretation one way. Seeing it as just an expression of her frustration boiling over in the course of lovingly and empathetically trying to soothe and calm her silly doofus boyfriend would be putting an absurdly positive spin on it.
My opinion is that while it’s obvious she doesn’t actually want him dead, in that moment she was feeling frustrated enough that she didn’t much care if he lived or died, she could take him or leave him. And hey, feelings are just feelings. But because she spoke that feeling, she left a sort of permanent trace of that feeling in the world. In his mind.
She brought it into the world. If it could have stayed as a temporary feeling in her stressed out head it would have been fine. Now what she said a memory in his head. They might be able to move past it, who knows.
If someone said something like that to me, our relationship would be dead. Not because I’d want to punish them, more so because they brought this energy into our relationship and it killed it for me.
It's not wrong to think of the future if you're serious about each other. I did got married at this age, it's never too early to talk about what environment and how you'll raise your kids (if you wanted kids).
I can't blame you wanting to cut out the toxic from your relationship, but it will be hot for your partner to see, that is all he ever knew before you.
It's not controlling or wrong. But it could also mean you're not compatible.
