I didn't get in a real relationship until I was 23, and didn't have sex until I was 26. You're fine, and don't let anyone try to make you think otherwise. Trust your gut. I have a feeling the custody comment is just him trying to scare you into staying. A guy who's making time to cheat doesn't have time to care for a child. Nor does he particularly want to.
Don't put up with cheating. “All men cheat” is the kind of thing a man who cheats says to feel better about what he's doing.
You're a student with a future career and you helped him until he got a job… so why can't things reconcile if he now has a job and you're on track to get a degree?
I feel there's more to this than you're letting on here as that's not a lot for going no contact (although you can go NC for any reason).
The only thing I can think is the age gap and the likely hood that you'll have a good career (doctor, lawyer, etc) and he earns minimum wage…
