I’m the first person to come on here to say that opposite sex platonic friendships can absolutely work, including with exes or prior hookups.
But like anything else, context is everything. They’re barely “friends,” but most importantly, it’s your honeymoon. Your honeymoon is about celebrating the two of you. It’s not about catching up with an old on-line hookup with your wife.
What effort do you need to make in this situation?
I’m not telling you that you’re a hoarder.
I’m telling you that you’re showing warning signs of becoming a legitimate, television show on A&E, intervention from local government hoarder.
Keeping things like silica gel packets “just in case” set off all kinds of alarms for me. You’re not going to like this statement and you’re going to have what you think are legitimate reasons to stash sugar packets and silica and so on.
Memories of pets are pictures and paw prints.
I’m begging you in a totally non judgmental way and entirely out of concern for you – get therapy. These behaviors absolutely destroy relationships of all kinds as they escalate. I’ve worked with them as a pastor and it’s heartbreaking.
