You do and I know that it is bandied around a lot but you are young (my youngest is your age and has just gone through a breakup as well) and you do have so much more life to experience beyond this one person.
I know from experience that breaking up is not easy, but as my own daughter said you often have to do things that are right for you in the long-term even if it means heartache and mental anguish now. You can only hurt yourself so much for someone before the hurt becomes irreversible. As she found with her ex, she was causing herself more pain by staying with him and trying to make it work (he had family & work issues and they both had time constraints that meant they rarely saw one another).
