This comment thread hits at what I was thinking about. A brief story…
When my former wife was pregnant with our first child, I knew before she did. I called my mom and told her that Wife was pregnant and as a grandmother to be, she gushed and wanted to talk to WIFE. I then had to explain to her that WIFE didn't know it yet, which produced the confusion you'd think it would. I told her that WIFE's behavior was substantially different than her usual self.
[An interlude to note that I really don't think – I HOPE I'm not – being sexist…I'm certainly not of the “pregnant women are nuts” school of thought. I didn't think she was nuts, I suspected she was dealing with body changes (hormones) and it impacted her mood, among other things.]
So, anyway, I explained that my mom that WIFE was herself but uncharacteristically mood swing-y and especially prone to get more angry than she typically did when frustrated, as well as more verklempt at emotional stuff.
The reason I bring this up is that I think Suspicious Jewels might be onto something. As for VirgoLuv, I've been trying to wrack my brain to remember how far along she was at this point. I guess I would argue it doesn't much matter as different bodies are going to react different ways and move at different paces.
So, to may main point – sorry so long, I just felt the background was worth it – I would suggest you try and remember that she's going through pretty drastic changes and that creating another body within her own greatly impacts her in many ways.
I want to reiterate that I'm not suggesting your partner is nuts, or nuts because she's pregnant – that's not my thought process, but taking into consideration that the substantial changes in her body will impact her behavior and therefor your relationship.
I don't believe in telling people what to do…my goal here has simply been to convey what I went through in a situation that feels similar in order to equip you with some food for thought.
Good luck…as a dad, I can tell you it's pretty amazing, but yes, it's extremely challenging.
It's international women's day, and traditionally husbands give flowers on this day to their loved ones, and sons to mothers etc. Just a day to celebrate women
