As for the hurting, him and I did already discussed that we wanted to wait until we got our degrees. I can respect that he doesn’t want a long engagement.
He told me he bought the rings because he wanted to give me a promise ring, and to have a ring for when he’ll propose, and for all I know he’ll propose this year and that’s been his plan all along.
I’m not hurt that he bought an engagement ring, I’m just struggling with the promise ring step, because I’ve never thought about having one before, and as silly as it sounds, I do worry about others reactions and questions.
And he doesn’t understand why I worry so much about that stuff, and I don’t know how to explain it to him.
I agree that if you have very set rules regarding sex then you need to be with someone who has the same set of rules. I’m not saying him cheating on you is your fault, it’s his, but he obviously does respect you or want the same as you in a relationship. Tough but true.
This is a significantly more nuanced situation than outright cheating or abuse though.
