I would just say you are planning a boys trip with the homies. I mean as long as you’re not going to exotic places every month, I don’t see why a trusting partner would have a problem with their SO doing friends trips.
My boyfriend goes on trips with his friends without me all the time. Not because of money issues on my end but because I just don’t want to go or I have to work (my schedule is nuts). No big deal.
I guess it will depend on HOW insecure she is. The more insecure, the more breaks you’ll have to take on your trips to call / text her I suppose but she should be accepting if you frame it correctly and nothing mischievous is happening.
I'm hearing some narcissistic traits here (self-centeredness, superiority complex, lack of empathy). That's not to say that your husband has NPD, but it sounds like he has some psychological issues. There's nothing that you can do about that, especially if he won't go to therapy.
You can divorce him without his “permission.” He doesn't own you, and he can't hold you hostage. You don't need his drama on top of the long COVID. The stress can't be good for you. Maybe consulting with a divorce attorney would be a good idea. You can find out what your options are for forcing a divorce.
