1. sure, i agree with that. it's not to say that OP's boyfriend is handling this the proper way but to give credence to the hypothetical. let's say OP has this pattern of behavior where she will suddenly make an idiotic, impulsive decision and then completely cut-off contact for hours.

   perhaps it's not the first time OP's boyfriend has been in this situation? like, maybe OP just does shit like this and is just fine after the fact but has the boyfriend worrying for several hours on end before she decides to resurface.. maybe he's just fed up and knows she's probably ok and has just decided to be done with it
