He knew not to tell you about his status because it could jeopardize his ability to have sex with you and potentially be with you, but he couldn't tell you for your own knowledge and protection. He'll was definitely wrong whether it's undetectable or not. He could miss a few pills and transmit the disease to you. So you definitely have the right to question him, especially since he already breached your trust.
The fact that he doesn't see anything wrong with his behavior confirms that he lacks empathy. He can't understand why you'd be so concerned about his status and your health. That's a major red flag.
Honestly, I don't think the situation will get better. I dated a man who was narcissistic and lacked empathy. It was a constant wheel of frustration because he'd do questionable things then say he didn't think it was a bug deal. At the time I wasn't aware of gaslighting or narcissistic behavior, but he definitely should've been in therapy.
One piece of advice, never trust a person who doesn't take your health, safety, or well-being seriously. I don't think you should continue the relationship. I think he may eventually purposely infect you so you don't leave. This is a real form of abuse, they trap you with illness. My best friend has HIV and he still goes on dating sites sleeping around. He's on medications, but I don't know if he's telling people that he has the disease. It's just scary. Your bf cannot be trusted.
