Bullshit. He could attend an AA meeting. Today. And again tomorrow. “he just doesn't know how” is the lamest excuse I've ever heard. He's buying time and trying to keep you off his back.
Give him a literal ultimatum and stick to it. Tell him he will do the AA “90 meetings in 90 days” thing or you are walking. The first time he misses a meeting (NO excuses — there are multiple meetings every day in every city) leave (or pack his shit). If he doesn't stick to it after 90 days, leave.
Stop accepting his excuses. Stop giving him a break. Stop trying to fix him when he clearly isn't ready.
