A pacifier is meant to be a replacement for a baby’s thumb, not a mother’s nipple. There’s a reason they look like little thumbs and not nipples.
A baby does not expect to get milk from its thumb (or a pacifier), it does however expect to get milk from a nipple. When it doesn’t, you are essentially training it to not expect milk from a nipple and the baby will sooner or later stop feeding from the nipple. If you want to keep breastfeeding your child, your wife needs to grow up and get over herself and quickly learn the most important thing about thing about being a parent is that you put your child’s needs above your own. I think he's having a mental health break and he needs support through it. I think OP calling it quits after years of dating and this being the first sign of this sort of behaviour is wrong of her. And I think the next logical step in this downward spiral of self destruction he's going through, is to start to physically hurt himself.
