I think OP said that his girlfriend doesn't do it herself either. She has said that now she's in a relationship she won't be travelling with friends of any gender. So as OP puts it, she is at least morally consistent and I commend her for that. And OP is morally consistent too, he wants to go away with a friend, and is okay with his girlfriend doing the same.
The problem is that their wishes here are incompatible, so the question is whether they will be happy if one of them caves to the other, or whether they can find a compromise they both agree on.
That's not what he wants right now. The best thing you can do is listen to him and what he wants. You're not the one who went through a traumatic event, he is. Make him your focus (and not in the way YOU think he wants, in the way HE wants)
You only get to control your actions. You can’t make him do anything. If you want something to happen, take control of your own outcome and ask for what you want directly.
If he does want to go out with you again, that’s great! If he is turning off by you being honest about your interest in him, then he’s not a good match for you anyway.
The earlier in a relationship you are honest with someone about who you are and how you operate, the easier it is to judge if someone is excited about you and if you are excited about them.
If someone tells you who they are, believe them. If you get the opportunity to be yourself with someone, do so, and hopefully they believe you.
