You should keep in mind that kids learn more by modeled behaviors than by any number of words. Do you want your kid to believe that that is a healthy way of processing emotions? I'm not saying you need to call it quits automatically, but this is a more serious issue than you might be recognizing OP. My father was similarly emotionally stunned.
