Did you control portions and/or use sugar as an incentive or reward for your teen as a child? Because I was diagnosed with Binge eating. I would hide snacks, binge, feel shit about myself due to depression, trauma from my abusive parents (not that I'm saying you are, but as an example), and intense emotions.
I also was questioned quite aggressively anytime i entered the pantry, and my family in general had very bad portion control.

Im crying you have no idea how much I needed to hear this. It’s exactly what I was thinking as well but no one was saying it. I really love her a lot. This was hurting me all night and it’s not usual for me to wake up upset so I figured something was wrong with me and wanted to fix it before it became a bigger problem. She doesn’t have any friends that last longer than a week which is why I wanted advice.
