You know, sometimes it is actually possible for men and women to be friends. This could be completely innocent and the reason GF is getting grumpy with OP is because he’s jealous.

To be blunt, you’re in denial and don’t respect yourself. Ask friends or family for help leaving him. A terrible relationship is much worse than being by yourself. It sounds like you should be by yourself to build back up, find things you enjoy doing and therapy if it is an option for you.
Look after and care for yourself, this guy won’t.
I’ll also say this. Something Reddit never tells you is that getting involved in things like this, especially when situations aren’t 100% clear, things get really messy and really fast. It ruins lives for everyone. Not just the couple but I’ve seen posters who have gotten involved and it backfire terribly. I’ve seen OPs post how they’ve lost full families and friend groups. You don’t know exactly the full situation for what happened.
Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t, I’m just saying that it’s never as easy as Reddit makes it out to be. Getting involved in stuff like this is never easy. And you rarely see updated posts with a happy ending.
It sure sounds like he just wants to bang. He may be trying to be just a touch subtle about it, but that's not a “red flag”, just something a lot of people on dating apps go for. The answer to it is simply “I'm not interested”.
If you go on this “date” for just having someone to talk to, without being upfront about it, you'd be using him, not the other way around.
Interestingly, this version appears nowhere on the Internet before Reddit invented it, and the real saying is quite old and has the obvious meaning you would imagine, namely, family over friends. It is part and parcel of reddits love for going NC that it should invent this expression. It’s not a bad one, it’s just recently created as a variant in the real one.
Leave her alone and let her live her life. If you truly care about her you would go on. You put her through it. I would never take you back. Just make sure you do better and take the lesson from this. Good luck.
