If he’s “part of your team” why are the rides to work transactional vs something your boyfriend does for you because he loves & cares for you? SF is one of the highest COL cities to live in and because he schleps you around a few times a week, he gets to live! for free with you? You deserve better than that. I’d sit down with him and explain how transactional this feels to you and that he needs to immediately start paying half of all household expenses or move out. Offer to fill his car with gas once in awhile if he’s bent on remuneration for the rides to/ from work. But, honestly, a good boyfriend would do that out of love. I hope things improve with him.
