So exhausting. Agree. We’re all neurodivergent in my house and that adds an extra layer of difficulty. I’ve noticed recently that actually keeping the whole thing clean is hot for my husband because his mom just… did everything… she never taught her kids what’s involved in cleaning. So my husband does obvious things: wash the dishes, maybe sweep the floor, clean the stove when it gets terrible… but it never occurs to him to, say, wash the counters regularly, clean the outside of the toilet, wash the floor (being spot cleaning). He’s not being intentionally incompetent, he just never thinks of anything beyond the obvious. Is interesting to observe.
I grew up in a messy house with an undiagnosed ADHD mom – but I know more about keeping the house clean than him growing up in a spotless house.
